Innovating with care and responsibility

For several years now, Gattefossé has been committed to a responsible approach based on a collective ambition: to innovate responsibly and act with care in the face of environmental and social emergencies

This dynamic ambition is reflected in a structured roadmap, Gatt'Up&Act, which is now based on 25 ambitious and realistic objectives designed to guide the group's actions for the next decade.

Our actions in figures

Focus on carbon footprint

The Science Based Targets initiative has approved our near-term science-based emissions reduction target, which aims to maintain greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris 2015 agreements.

Our overall objective is to reduce our total greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030, compared to 2021 (Scope 1, 2 and 3).

Between 2021 and 2024, we have already managed to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 9% and our Scope 3 emissions by 24%.

A strategy based on three areas of commitment

Our Gatt'Up&Act roadmap is the result of a collaborative work by the CSR team and the involvement of all our employees and is structured around 3 areas of commitment within which we find the 25 objectives to be achieved by 2035.

These roadmap, which we have translated into concrete initiatives, illustrate our commitment to responsible innovation, in line with our common corporate mission: ‘Advancing science for well-being.’

Impact environnement Gattefossé

The environment

Responding to environmental emergencies is a major pillar of our CSR roadmap. At Gattefossé, we focus on the reduction of our carbon emissions, the sustainability of our raw materials and the responsible management of the natural resources we use.

Nos collaborateurs Gattefossé

A recognized CSR performance

Driven by a strategy of continuous improvement, we respond to various external evaluations that enable us to develop our action plans.

CSR performance

The EcoVadis assessment methodology, which evaluates tens of thousands of companies, covers the environment, ethics, sustainable sourcing practices, labor and human rights. In 2025, we were awarded the gold medal with an overall score of 77/100 compared to 75 in 2024. This confirms our determination to maintain and develop our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Environmental Management System

In 2021, our main production site in Saint-Priest (France) obtained ISO 14001: 2015 certification. This certificate has been validated from the first audit by the certification body SGS and renewed in 2024. Our Environmental Management System aims to continually improve our performance through more rational use of resources and waste reduction with a continuous improvement process.

Responsible palm oil

Our manufacturing sites in Saint-Priest, Singapore and Lufkin (Texas) are RSPO-certified. All new personal care ingredients using palm oil or palm oil derivatives must be RSPO-certified (minimum Mass Balance). We are also a member of the ASD (Action for Sustainable Derivatives) collective, which aims to transform the palm oil derivatives supply chain by increasing transparency, monitoring risks, engaging the sector and generating on-the-ground impacts for communities. In 2025, we were able to trace back 95% of our supply chains to the mills and 81% to the plantations.

We are also classified “Best in class practices” by the Sustainable Palm Index with a score of 88/100.

Our carbon reduction targets approved

Our carbon reduction targets are based on climate science and approved by the SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative). This initiative enables companies to set and validate a carbon trajectory compatible with the 2015 Paris Agreements. This means that we are committed to reducing our direct greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2) by 42%, and our indirect emissions (scope 3) by 25% by 2030, compared with 2021.

To complete, the management of our carbon emissions at the Saint-Priest site has once again been validated by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), and Gattefossé has been awarded a grade of B in 2024.

Our integrated water management awarded

In January 2026, we received the Environmental Award as part of the Responsible Care program led by the French chemical industry. This award recognises all the efforts made by our teams as part of our integrated and ambitious water management initiative: Poseidon!
Poseidon is built on the ambition to make water efficiency a core industrial practice rather than an isolated initiative.

Some key figures in our Headquarters workshops, France:

  • –14% water consumption per ton produced over two years
  • 800,000 liters of water saved in 2024 through optimized production campaigns
  • 400,000 liters saved via optimized cooling system shutdowns
