3D printing
Among the various 3D printing processes existing, the fused deposition process is the most frequently used. This process consists in an extrusion of the material to form the desired shape.
Solid and semi-solid lipid excipients can be used to prepare solid SMEDDS with a 3D printing process.
Advantages of lipid excipients in 3D printing:
- low melting temperatures (30–75 °C)
- rapid recrystallization
Range of functional excipients for 3D printing:
- Solubility and oral bioavailability enhancer
